About Us
Van Auken Construction, Inc. was founded in 1965, by Robert E. Van Auken, who graduated from one of the first construction programs at Michigan State University. During the past forty-five years, Bob has worked to build a successful business that focused on custom home designs of any size and innovative remodeling, along with light commercial projects. Bob was named Builder of the Year by the Home Builders Association in Saginaw, and has served on the association’s board of directors for many years. Bob proudly retired in December 2010 after forty-five years of successful business.
Diane Lange is a licensed builder who serves as the company’s Production Manager and has been a huge asset to the company for the past twenty years. She is very involved in the building process and works closely with clients from the initial visit, through the design phase and pricing, to the final walkthrough. Diane was also named Builder of the Year by the Home Builders Association, and currently serves on their board of directors.
Connie Gottschalk, our secretary, is a life-long resident of Saginaw and has worked as the secretary for VanAuken Construction, Inc. since February 2007. She is a member of the Professional Women in Building, through the Home Builders Association of Saginaw, and thoroughly enjoys her work. She is very knowledgeable and eager to assist our customers in any way she can.
Owner and Project Manager, Doug Robertson, brings over twenty years of experience to the firm and has a hands on feel for creating living spaces that are beautiful to the eye and are right for the family that lives there. He specializes in custom finish carpentry work, and possesses the expertise for the decisions that make the great finishing touches of a complete home. Doug works closely between clients and subcontractors to make sure that project plans, revisions, and day-to-day operational aspects of the project meets the changing needs and requirements.
In January, 2011, Doug purchased the company of Van Auken Construction, Inc., upon Bob’s retirement. It is the intent of his family, and current working team to continue the excellent reputation that began with Bob back in 1965.
